  1. Introduction

 

Welcome to the first year of NJROTC course of instruction. We are glad that you chose to participate in the NJROTC program. Below you will find a basic idea of the types of things we expect to be doing this year.

 

 

  1. AMSC Aiken’s Daily Schedule

 

 

      1st Period – Naval Science 1

      2nd Period – Planning

      3rd Period – Naval Science 1

.     4th Period – Planning

      5th Period – Advanced Drill

      6th Period – Naval Science 1

      7th Period – Naval Science 1

 

 

  1. Naval Science Weekly Schedule

 

      Drill: (Monday):   fundamentals of military drill. Reference will be your Cadet Field Manual

 

      Academics: (Tues. & Thurs.):  The main reference used will be our text, Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps, Introduction. During this year you will become acquainted with topics that deal with a wide range of subjects, they will include:

 

 

Introduction to NJROTC                   Foundation of Government

Leadership                                         Navy Ships

Citizenship                                        Naval Aviation

 

Uniform Wear Day/ Inspection (Wed.): We are always proud to wear our uniform and wear it correctly. As a senior Cadet in this program, I expect to have very few problems in this area from this class. Your reference is the Cadet Field Manual (orange book).

 

 

Physical Training (Fri.):  A good cadet is well rounded. Everyone will be expected to dress out and PT with the group on Fridays. Your reference is the Cadet Field Manual.

 

 

 

  1. Grade determination and homework policy:

 

Your Grade will be determined as follows:

 

      Tests                                           20 %  

      Drill, Uniform, PE                     30%

      Military aptitude, teamwork,

      Participation, core values          30%

      Final Exam                                20%

 

 

     Homework will be assigned and graded as required.

 

  1. Behavior.

 

      Please refer to the NJROTC Handbook. The basic content of the handbook will be   covered with each Cadet during the first week of instruction.

 

  1. Extra  Curricular:

 

    

      In addition to the established teams (Drill, Rifle, Academic, Orienteering), we expect to  schedule a major field trip this year for Cadets that are in good standing. In addition, there will be one additional field trip for those cadets that are on one of the competitive teams.

Note: Please fill-out and return the NJROTC Basic Information Sheet, Physical Screening Form, Standard Release Form and Physical Training (PT) size order form. Forms are due by August 26, 2005.
